Born in Orlando, Florida, blues guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Selwyn Birchwood first grabbed a guitar at the age of 13 and was soon captured by the blues. His 2014 debut album Don’t Call No Ambulance, announced his arrival on the international blues stage and earned him the Blues Music Award for Best Debut Album. Since then, Birchwood has made a meteoric rise from playing small Florida clubs to headlining international festival stages. He has opened for major blues stars including Robert Cray and Buddy Guy and shared the stage with Joe Louis Walker (BlueSeas Festival 2016).
Described as a master storyteller, both lyrically and musically, with his fiery guitar and lap steel playing, instantly memorable songs and gritty, unvarnished vocals, this next-generation bluesman delivers unforgettable live performances. His follow-up album Pick Your Poison recently debuted at #6 in the Billboard Blues Chart.
